Situated at an altitude of 14100 feet, in the  Pir Panjal  range, Hampta pass  is the gateway to  the lush green Kullu Valley on one  side and  the strikingly opposite barren desert land  of Lahaul- Spiti on the other.

A cross  over trek  between Kullu  Valley and  Spiti, Hampta pass trek offers mind boggling land features in forms  of  dense  forests, wildflower meadows, glaciers, snow passes, snow bridges, jagged mountains and gushing rivulets. This  is  one  of those absolutely dramatic and exciting treks which  makes you cross rivers, slide down glaciers, stare with  awe at majestic peaks  like Indrasan and Deo Tibba, walk carefully on moraine  and boulder zones, sleep in tents  near beautiful streams. What more, on a lucky day you  can visit the crescent lake  Chandrataal. The lake  is accessible only in the months of summer when the snow has melted away and the roads to the lake has opened.
